Exchange exhibition between artists from Freiburg and Guildford, in a collaboration between the Guildford Twinning Association and the BBK Suedbaden.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\nGuildford House, located at 155 High Street in Guildford, Surrey, England, is a historic house, built in 1660. Today, it serves as a municipal museum and art gallery, offering visitors a chance to explore its rich history and diverse art collection.<\/span><\/p>\nThe Guildford Twinning Association, a voluntary and apolitical association, founded in 1979, has set its aim to enhance the liaison between Freiburg and Guildford. The BBK Suedbaden, founded in 1947, has organised numerous exhibitions and socio-cultural projects, that are being realised in the premises at the Talstrasse 66 in Freiburg.<\/span><\/p>\nGuildford and Freiburg are twinning towns since 1979.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\n - \n\n

17.11. – 3.12.2024<\/h3><\/h1>\nWith Simone Rosenow and Jan Douma, two positions of non-representational expression meet. Rosenow’s dynamic drawings meet Douma’s reduced sculptures. Rhythmic drawings, whether with pen or brush, on paper or canvas, in small or large formats, characterize Rosenow’s work. The movement of emergence can always be read, the lines correspond to each other. Whether they are applied delicately or broadly, loosely next to each other, floatingly distributed, flowing towards or against each other, they have the effect of sounds in a wide space. Douma’s abstract sculptures are made of blackened wood, stone or iron. The material is processed in different ways, from being left almost raw with only minimal interventions to being shaped and finely sanded. The works are assembled from several elements or worked out from one piece. The focus is on the intermediate areas, transitions and references between the elements and the interplay between form, material and surface. Will be released spring 2023<\/span><\/p>\nLeaning, laying, stacking: the sculptor and painter Jan Douma, in his extremely succinct handling of the respective material, be it that of the sculpture or that of the paint, does not look for the world in the figurative representation and depictability, but he feels it in the forms and form references themselves. It is often a dualistic body and space experience of being in between, of emptiness or instability, which is reflected in the choice of materials (stone, wood, concrete, iron – oil and acrylic) and surface treatment (flamed, roughly hewn, nuanced in color – vertical and striped) specified.\u00a0<\/span>A compact granite block delicately touches a towering oak stele at a tiny point, two columnar concrete sculptures make contact with one another, tongue-shaped, grained olive wood rests in partnership on black flamed ash \u2013 in the painting, deep vertical layers of paint make their way upwards and create Vibration and transition in the midst of an abstract spatiality. <\/span><\/p>\nAntje Lechleiter and Herbert M. Will be released spring 2023<\/span><\/p>\n Leaning, laying, stacking: the sculptor and painter Jan Douma, in his extremely succinct handling of the respective material, be it that of the sculpture or that of the paint, does not look for the world in the figurative representation and depictability, but he feels it in the forms and form references themselves. It is often a dualistic body and space experience of being in between, of emptiness or instability, which is reflected in the choice of materials (stone, wood, concrete, iron – oil and acrylic) and surface treatment (flamed, roughly hewn, nuanced in color – vertical and striped) specified.\u00a0<\/span>A compact granite block delicately touches a towering oak stele at a tiny point, two columnar concrete sculptures make contact with one another, tongue-shaped, grained olive wood rests in partnership on black flamed ash \u2013 in the painting, deep vertical layers of paint make their way upwards and create Vibration and transition in the midst of an abstract spatiality. <\/span><\/p>\n Antje Lechleiter and Herbert M.
